The short version
- Keel is free during the beta. It may change, have bugs, or stop.
- Keel reads your bills and reminds you about them. It never pays, renews, switches or cancels anything for you. You decide and you act.
- Keel uses AI to read bills, and it can get things wrong. Check amounts and dates before you rely on them, and keep paying your bills as usual.
- Deal searches and answers in the Ask box are information, not financial advice.
- You can stop using Keel and delete everything at any time from Settings.
Who runs Keel
Keel is run by Finn Fitzpatrick, an individual based in Ireland, not a company. In these terms “we” means the person running Keel and “you” means you, the person using it. By signing in you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Keel.
The beta
Keel is invite-only and free while it’s in beta. Features may change, appear or disappear, and things may break. We may pause or end the beta. If we decide to close Keel, we’ll email you at least 14 days beforehand where we can, so you have time to note down anything you need, and then delete your data.
Who can use Keel
- You must be 18 or over.
- Connect only a Google account that is yours, and use Keel for your own and your household’s bills, not as part of a business.
- Invite codes are for people you know. Please don’t sell or publish them.
What Keel does, and doesn’t do
Keel finds bills, subscriptions and renewals in your Gmail and in photos you add, keeps a list of them, and reminds you before they’re due. When something is up for renewal it can help you decide: you can mark it to renew or plan to cancel, ask for a search for a better deal, or prepare a cancellation email.
Keel never pays a bill, renews or switches a contract, or cancels anything on its own. Marking “Renew” or “Plan to cancel” only records your choice in Keel; it doesn’t tell the company. Dealing with your providers is always up to you.
Please check the details
Keel uses Anthropic’s Claude AI to read bills. It is usually right, but it can misread an amount or a date, miss a bill, list something that isn’t a bill, or guess a renewal date that turns out to be wrong (estimated dates are marked “≈”). Reminder emails can also arrive late or not at all.
Keel is a helper, not a replacement for your own records. You remain responsible for paying your bills on time and for checking the real bill or contract before you make a decision.
Deal searches and the Ask box
“Find a better deal” searches public web pages using your bill’s details and suggests alternatives. Prices, offers and terms change, and pages can be out of date or wrong, so always confirm with the provider before switching. Keel isn’t a broker or a price comparison service regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland, doesn’t earn commission from any provider, and doesn’t give financial, legal or tax advice. The same goes for answers in the Ask box.
Cancellation emails
If you choose to, Keel can draft a cancellation email and, after you’ve read it and tapped Send, send it from your own Gmail. You are the sender and it’s your message. Some providers need you to cancel another way (by phone, online or with notice), may charge fees, or may not act on an email, so check your contract and keep an eye out for their reply.
Households
Bills are private unless you share them. Only share bills, places and cars that you’re entitled to share, and only invite people you know. Everyone in a household can see and edit its places and cars.
Using Keel fairly
- Don’t upload bills or connect accounts that belong to someone else without their permission.
- Don’t try to break, overload, copy or get around Keel’s limits or security, or use it to send spam.
- Keel has daily and monthly limits (for example on deal searches, questions and emails) to keep costs under control.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and will tell you why.
Your data
How Keel reads, keeps and protects your information is explained on the Privacy page, which forms part of these terms. Your bills are yours. Settings → Delete account removes Keel’s access to Google and permanently deletes everything we hold about you.
Liability
Keel is provided free and “as is” during the beta. As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for missed or late payments, late fees, price rises, contracts that renewed or weren’t cancelled, or decisions you make using information from Keel, and we can’t promise Keel will always be available or error-free.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing affects your rights as a consumer under Irish law.
Stopping and changes
You can stop using Keel at any time by deleting your account in Settings. If we make a significant change to these terms, we’ll email you before it applies; if you keep using Keel afterwards, the new terms apply.
Law
These terms are governed by Irish law, and the Irish courts can deal with any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of your own country’s consumer law.
